The Aelphen Tribe-

Once upon a time in Earth History there were an indigenous tribe called the Aelphen.
They were quite special and different to any other species. They were female and male but had a special ability to shape shift to change their sex.
An Elph looked like a female and Alph looked male but both could change their sex, and closely resembled the early androgynous.
They were quite magical and peaceful, and lived during a period when Nature was different. They came from a time when other magical creatures existed freely on the Earth.
Soon they would be drawn into conflict which unfortunately almost wiped them out. The Earth and Nature did not let them die. And so, evolution gave birth to the Elvish races. They remained magical with eyes that sparkled and beauty which simply enchanted the beholder.
Conflict would come to them again and once more the Earth and Nature would not allow them to be wiped; evolution would take place again for the Aelphen tribe.
I mention them very briefly in Book 1, but I discover them properly in Book 2.
